Zephyr Sports has a complete line of paintball guns from beginner to pro. When it comes to paintball guns there are alot of choices that we know can be pretty daunting as you learn the game of paintball. Be sure to check out our paintball review blog for plenty of paintball gear reviews. Paintball guns were orignally built as tree markers for the forest industry. You will hear us talk about paintball guns and paintball markers. These are the exact same thing, but markers is a little more PC nowadays.
Choosing a paintball gun
FIRING METHOD
Semi-Auto - The standard paintball gun like you would typically rent at a field is a semi auto gun. You will get one paintball shot for one trigger pull. These are great for learning the game of paintball without spending a bunch of money on paintballs. Semi Auto is a great way to play as long as the other people in the game also have a similar paintball gun, not a fully automatic gun. Imagine a pistol vs a machine gun. Semi auto guns include guns such as Azodin, Kingman Spyder and Tippmann. Typically you will see these guns in what we call scenario games or woodsball instead of tournament style speedball.Full Auto - Are you looking to be able to throw a ton of paintballs down field? As fast as you can pull the trigger or faster? Than you are looking for an electronic paintball gun. Theses paintball markers vary in price from $100 all the way to $1400+. As the price goes up, the paintball gun typically gets lighter, faster, more efficient, and able to shoot more brittle paintballs.
BODY STYLE
Scenario Paintball guns come in a few different body style, one is meant to look more like a real firearm. The US Army and tippmann line of guns are a good example. Plenty of upgrades are available from rails mount to stock and barrels to give your paintball gun that personalized and realistic look. Tournament Paintball guns typically have a more futuristic look. Their bodies have been milled down and made as small and lightweight as possible. Take a look at the Eclipse etha or Proto Rail for some examples. Tournament guns will provide the greatest firepower on the field, but that comes with a price. Expect to spend at least $300 to get an entry level tournament marker.
